This was a GREAT trip for the four of us that went out to Bust a Move in Montreal!
Myself (Jaekwong), Abe (aka Smiles Davis), Locking Sun, and Ryo trekked out to the land of Frenchies!
We got their all on Friday. Thanks for Scramblelock taking us in. We stayed with the cats from Toronto (Surreal, Neo, Jerome, Ken, Popsikal Pete). 10 of us all in Marc's apartment - an interesting sight of men in their boxers 1 at a time walking out of the washrooms after showering, people sleeping on hardwood with jackets and no pillows, and 4 guys squished on one bed. GREAT times there.
First night we headed over to an underground loft place in the middle of an area filled with warehouses. This area was perfect for an underground preparty. Then this place flooded with dancers and eventually got too crowded and hot. We got down with the toronto guys and some of the montreal cats. At around 3 we headed home.
Next day was the big day! Most of us with barely any sleep, ate, got ready, and headed over to the Soda Club. This event had the BEST vibe I've ever felt. TONS of dancers and all very high level. Wacking and Hip hop to me had the best battle characters on stage. Finally for popping with the largest entry of almost 60 poppers and that wasnt even all teh poppers in the building. Me and abe both entered. As for locking, sun and ryo entered. I am happy to say that me and abe made it into top 16 past the prelims.
Sun and Ryo in the locking category made it to the finals against trek lock and scramble lock! DOPE ISHHH.. as for Abe and I (Jaekwong), we both got to battle. I battled Monstapop from Montreal and Abe battled another cat from Montreal as well! Unfortunately we both got cut after that and didn't reach quarter finals!
But all in all the event was a BIG learning experience. Hopefully I'll see you all in person and get to share a bit of it with you then! Congrats to Sun, Ryo, and Abe for killin it out there! Vancouveerrrr :D
